Shards of pull cards scattered on the carpet

Wonderin' about the thunder runnin' through this blood
I try to keep my cool, but the hat fits too snug
Study the love, took my degree
Shoved it into a bottle, chucked it into the sea

I am a
philosopher
sitting on a mountain
of time
to explore
to take apart the world.
I will stretch my arms toward
the sky, push through rich earth
I will emerge beneath the sun
I will stretch my arms toward
the heavens, push through clouds of obscurity
I will emerge on the other side of the moon
And I will know what
is.

The amazing thing about art is that you can meet yourself in another form and thereby realize yourself. You hear a song, read that poem, sing those lyrics, let your eyes linger on that image and there is a connection made. Your thoughts are clarified, you discover the answers to the unspoken questions inside of you. Or perhaps you come face to face with a question you should have been asking yourself all along.

I sing suspended
swirls of smoke
and muted light
shadows of yellow leaves
